The Avro 694 Lincoln was a seven seat long range bomber used by the RAF and other users after World War Two.
History[]
The Lincoln began as a progressive development of the Avro Lancaster,[N 4] intended to meet the requirements of specification B.14/43, which called for a bomber designed for service in the Far East,[3] resulting in the Lancaster IV and Lancaster V, both of which featured higher aspect ratio wings, lengthened fuselages and Merlin 85 engines. These changes led to the redesignation, before the 9 June 1944 first flight of prototype PW925, of both aircraft, with the Lancaster IV and Lancaster V respectively becoming the Lincoln I and Lincoln II.
